This was such a happy wedding and a pleasure to be a part of. I am extremely lucky to have a job where I share and record one of the most important days in people's lives.
Having known Rachel's Mum and Dad for some years, it was even more of a privelege to be chosen as the photographer.
It was also a refreshing change to be working within minutes, rather than the usual hours, from my home!
I just love the sequence when Rachel's Dad, Don, first sees his beautiful daughter walking down the stairs for the first time.. Such an incredibly special moment full of emotion. Also, Craig had placed a personal message to Rachel in her wedding dress as a surprise and I made sure I was there to capture that moment too!
Rachel and Criaig got married in St. Mary's Chuch in Derby, where my Mum and Dad had been married many years earlier, which also made it rather special.
The reception was at the beautiful West Mill Wedding Venue at Darley Abbey in Derby. This was the first wedding that I have covered at this new venue and as such, had previously done my usual recce so that I could be as prepared as possible to make the most of the venue.
I always try to give my couples a very special image to finish off their pictures in the album. At my previous visit, I had noticed the beautiful Pagoda and taken note of where the sun would be setting, as my idea included getting the last bit of detail in the darkening sky. I feel that the result has to be one of the loveliest and spectacular wedding pictures that I have ever taken and went home both exhausted and satisfied knowing I'd safely bagged that one.
The other special image for me, is the monotone 'hug' picture. Although a very simple image, it shows such happiness and emotion.
